Weekend Plans: Bar Crawl themed….

irelandcastle1

Let the games begin!!! St. Patty’s day season is upon us and the drinking festivities are up and running… Now the question is which fine establishments are you going to let take your money? That’s where I come in. I am going to lay it out for so that you know in advance which bar crawl is best for you.

The Irish Rovers at the Keswick Theater

This isn’t a bar crawl but you could make it one!

Friday March 8, 7:30-9:15

Tickets are available at the box office or you can call and order over the phone. $29.50-$35

The Irish Rovers were one of the most popular folk based music groups to come from Ireland in the 60’s. If your looking for a more traditional and highly spirited Irish experience without all of the drunken fools this is the event for you. For an all around great night stop into the Keswick Tavern before the show for a bit to eat and a beer from their extensive collection. Then after the show head up to road to The Glenside Pub, you will feel like you’re back in the old country!

Midtown-University City Erin Express

Saturday March 9, 12pm-6pm

If you are looking for a fun drunken, happy good time this is your crawl! I have done this bar crawl a hand full of times and other than my general regret for starting to drink too early in the day, I always have a blast! You just can’t beat free transportation in the city, there are no covers for anything and drink specials at every bar. I love that you get to experience a plethura of neighborhoods. I wouldn’t try to stop at every bar, just pick 3 or 4. My choices would be Green Room start, a nice Fairmont neighborhood bar to ease yourself in Then go to either Cavanaugh’s Rittenhouse or Mace’s Crossing (old man bar, I love it though!) for the center city stop. For the University City portion of the crawl I would choose Drinker’s West if the line isn’t too long, and then end my day/night at Smokey Joe’s as per tradition!

Northeast Philadelphia Erin Express

Saturday March 9, 1pm-6pm

Where the Irish of Philadelphia dwell, Northeast Philly! If you are looking for a rowdy, good drunken irish experience this is the bar crawl for you. If you go to any Paddy Whacks you can buy the $5 bracelet that gets you all of the participating bars. Great drink specials and easy transportation plus a guaranteed hangover!

Craft Beer Express

Saturday March 9, 11am-7pm

Tickets are $10 and Limited so buy them ASAP

For those who don’t want to do the drunken irish crawls but are feeling left out no fear their is a crawl for you too! This crawl features some of my favorite bars in the city from North to South Philadelphia including The Bishops Collar, Jose Pistola’s and Devil’s Den just to name a few on the list. This is for people who love beer and enjoy a fine brew. $10 is so worth the transportation!

St. Patty’s Day Parade

Sunday March 10, starts at 12 but gets to the judges by 1pm-4pm

I have not missed the parade for as long as I can remember! It’s just an all around great time. It’s nice experience for people of all ages. It’s also the one day a year that you are just openly aloud to drink on the streets. Not sure why but it’s definitely the case. The cops actually have a trailer with kegs of beer, a beer for a donation! Bonus this year Preston and Steve are going to be doing part of the hosting. Then around 3pm when you’re getting hunger and just want to sit head up the Parkway to Tir Na Nog to hear The Bogside Rouges. They are the Best, enough said!

P.S.

You won’t have any resemblance to picture below if you participate in any of the events above 🙂
